Nepal lost to New Zealand in U-19 World Cup

Kathmandu. Nepal lost to New Zealand by 64 runs in their first match of the group stage of the ICC U-19 World Cup cricket tournament. Chasing the target of 303 runs presented by New Zealand, Nepal managed to score only 238 runs in the match on Sunday in East London, South Africa. Although Arjun Kumal contributed the most 90 runs for Nepal, it was not enough for victory. He played 104 balls and hit 12 fours. Also, captain Dev Khanal contributed 36 runs, Subhash Bhandari 33 and Tilak Bhandari 17 runs. For New Zealand, Mason Clarke took three wickets, while Ewald Schroeder and Oscar Jackson took two wickets each. Matt Rowe and Jack Cumming took wickets apiece. New Zealand, who won the toss and batted first, made a strong total of three hundred and two runs at the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Snehit Reddy of New Zealand contributed the highest 147 runs. Reddy, who entered the field to bat at number three, faced 125 balls and hit 11 fours and 6 sixes. New Zealand, who shared a good partnership for the first wicket, then lost three consecutive wickets. Captain Oscar Jackson and Reddy shared a partnership of 157 runs for the fourth wicket. Captain Oscar Jackson scored 75 runs in 81 balls with the help of five sixes and three fours. Tom Jones scored 33, Luke Watson 14 and Alex Thompson 13. For Nepal, Subhas Bhandari took three wickets, while Gulsan Jha took two wickets and Dipesh Kandel, Tilakraj Bhandari and Akash Tripathi took one wicket each. Nepal will now play against Pakistan on Wednesday.
