Kathmandu. MP Sumana Shrestha has expressed dissatisfaction saying that the government does not trust Nepali software companies. Speaking at the meeting of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee under the House of Representatives on Thursday, MP Shrestha complained that Nepali companies could not participate even though the government had bid for software worth billions.
MP Shrestha alleges that even though companies located in Nepal are providing services abroad, the government always entrusts the development of software to foreign companies only. He said that if Nepali companies can participate in the bidding, there is a lot of potential in the country.
Stating that domestic companies are not entrusted with the procurement of software worth billions of rupees, she said, “We also entrust the software that can be bid by Nepali companies to foreigners, and why are they always looking for outsourced projects in Nepal?” If they (Nepali companies) get multi-billion contracts, there will be a lot of tech jobs created here.''
Speaking in the same meeting, she opined that there is a loophole in the law and only telling the story of MDMS, Teramox and Ncell cases is being done.
